We as “Gun Guys” tend to be the ones in society or a group that are prepared. And being prepared also means having some basic medical equipment with us, or even training with chest rigs, and various setups. Here’s some great companies to help you fill those needs.
Medical – Tourniquets & IFAK
Snakestaff Systems
Industry leading tourniquets that are smaller, and therefore easier to have on you for daily carry. I like having a few so that there’s always one in my pants pocket, shoulder bag, and some even attached to rifle slings.
They also make really small IFAKs too (Individual First Aid Kits).
“Normal” Looking Gun Bags
Vertx
Vertx makes slings and bags that look normal to the public, but inside have armor pockets and are designed to carry guns well. With spots for holsters, medical, armor and more – these every-day bags are also great for carrying a laptop or iPad through daily life.
These are well made bags that are designed to blend in, while also being really good looking. Because of the unique sizing and shapes of these bags, you’ll need armor that’s custom made for these bags, and that’s available from Premiere Armor.
Armor & Plate Carriers
If you want a chest rig and plate carrier with armor, a helmet, or just some armor inserts for things (chest rigs, bags), then here’s some great options at various price points.
Haley Strategic
Haley Strategic sells the best chest rigs and plate carriers, and also sells armor for those items. They even offer backpacks with armor too. All of these items work together, or as parts individually (chest rig, plate carrier, backpack, armor.)
Premiere Armor
Premier Armor sells custom shaped (and really well made) armor plates for specific bags and backpacks, like Vertx and Haley Strategic.

Spartan Armor
Spartan sells generally-sized armor (hard and soft) in various ratings (IIIA, III, III+, and IV). They’re also less expensive.
If you want to get started and also want to save money, at least get a Haley chest rig, but then get your plate carrier and armor from Spartan. They offer a number of setups at different price points, making it a great way to try things first and see what you like before spending more. They even have backpack armor in generic sizes that you can add to almost any bag.
