Ear & Eye Pro

There’s four kinds of hearing protection, in-ear, over-the-ear, passive, and electronic. This video explains the differences, why you want to have various options, and why you should NOT use Apple AirPods or other music “noice-cancelling” for shooting guns, because you’ll get hearing damage.

Tip for Women

Remove the jumpiness and double up the hearing protection. You’ll get more than double the protection, and have a wonderful time. Use passive in-ears (like foamies) plus some electronic over-the-ears.

Good Over-The Ear (Ear Muff) Electronic Options

  • Howard Leight Impact Sport
  • Walker Razor

Decent In-Ear Electronic Options

  • Walker Disrupter Bluetooth Ear Buds

Eye protection comes in many colors. See why you want different kinds, plus why you may want some prescription safety glasses (not just daily glasses).

Prescription Safety Glasses

If you have an astigmatism, and your red-dots look fuzzy, or like a starburst, get some cheap prescription safety glasses for shooting. See your dots clearly, and shoot better. This company is cheap enough, you can try different kinds, and just keep various ones in your different gun bags.

Stick-On Readers

If you’re not using a red-dot but instead just having a hard time seeing your front sight as you age, you can get these stick-on readers. The trick though is to stick them to the top of your safety glasses, instead of the bottoms. Then when you bring your pistol up, dip your head and you’ll see your front sight clearly.

They come in different magnifications, so you can try different ones and see what you like.
